Sold.

This unique dog collar dates to about 1580(late renaissance) We believe it was probably worn by a Mastiff or Great Dane. It is quite wonderful sporting incredible details like spikes and large letters probable denoting the dog's name and/or the master's name. It is in excellent condition and measures about 6" interior front to back and side to side and top to bottom about 4 7/8". A real treasure which we are honored to offer for sale. Historians will notice this kind of adornment appears in the period paintings of the times. A wondeful piece of history.
